Your comments about the Carter Doctrine in the Persian Gulf were particularly relevant for the present situation with Iran, Israel and the U.S.
I would have liked to have heard more about the Ottoman Empire and its decline. I read A Peace to End All Peace many years ago and it provided a good foundation.
